Slow Cooking & Wine Tasting Feast

You’ll start working alongside Emily making the slowest dish – a ragu of braised ox cheeks, fennel, carrots, & tomato – before making a French cassoulet of wild duck, French sausage and haricot beans. Whilst these simmer away on the stove, you’ll be tasting wine with Sophia, an adventurous & educational wine expert in the field, who will teach you the secrets of the perfect wine and food matchings. You’ll finish off with a demonstration of another of Emily’s favourites – slow cooked squid with chorizo & chickpeas – for you to taste whilst you enjoy your wine.

Dishes you will make:

Ragu of braised ox cheeks, fennel, carrots & tomato

French cassoulet of wild duck, French sausage & haricot beans

Slow cooked squid with chorizo & chickpeas (demonstration and tasting)

About Emily

Emily Carey has been teaching people to cook classic and original dishes for over 8 years, driven by her passion to make home cooking more widely accessible.

Her childhood, in a home where great food, especially Mediterranean cooking was cherished, started her off on a journey of discovery and exploration. She developed an eye for good recipes and learning what foods work well together, adding to this a flair for bringing food and people together, and that became the basis for Get Cooking.

With a simple start in 2010, and the opening of an exciting and unique venue in Farsley in 2016, she has continually incorporated fresh ideas into the business.

About Sophia Luckett

Sophia has been running educational and lively wine tasting events around the world for over 5 years. Now settled in Yorkshire, her business, The Drink Talking, has been a huge success for those wanting fun, bright entertainment combined with learning new, as Sophia puts it, ‘wine ninja skills’.

If you love your wine and enjoy learning while you sip, Sophia is your woman!

Sophia is also a qualified educator of the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET).
