This is a full-day immersive and hands-on experience we are now offering at Esholt Village Hall in Esholt, in the Aire Valley (near Guiseley, Leeds) where you will learn how to practice the craft of making fermented foods, whilst also becoming more knowledgeable about gut-friendly nutrition and gut health mindful living.

These days are perfect for anyone interested in learning about sourdough basics, fermented foods and connecting with people & nature. We are excited to support and inspire you on your gut health journey, even if you are a complete fermentation novice!

On the day:

  • Introduction to sourdough starter & flatbread making
  • Sauerkraut making
  • A light lunch of flatbreads with roasted vegetables and a simple harissa dressing
  • Optional 30-minute nature walk
  • Fermented fiery tomato making

You will receive your own sourdough starter and we will teach you how to feed & nurture it whilst learning about the sourdough process. We will then make sourdough flatbreads that you can stuff and bake at the end of the day.

You will also learn the art of the dry salting fermentation process - through making both a sauerkraut and fiery fermented tomato dish, both which you be able to sample during the class – all part of the learning experience.

A light lunch of flatbreads with roasted vegetables and a simple harissa dressing will be offered, followed by an optional 30-minute nature walk. We will take a stroll through a beautiful woodland area in the charming village of Esholt  (the former filming location of Emmerdale). Learn why walking with trees is more than just a peaceful escape… we will talk about why connecting ourself more to nature is also good for our microbiome thus complimenting a gut health lifestyle.
